# Giveaways

> How official giveaways work, the prize wait period, and the rules members must follow.

Esports Hub runs official giveaways for the community from time to time. Staff should know how they work so you can set expectations, answer questions, and spot abuse. These rules come straight from our [Terms of Service](https://esportshub.io/terms) and apply to every official giveaway.

<Note>
  This covers our own official giveaways only. Member-run giveaways are not allowed as promotional posts (see the Promo Moderation and Networking Channels pages).
</Note>

## Prizes are not paid out immediately

Prizes are not delivered the moment a winner is announced. There is a wait period of up to 60 days, and larger or international prizes can take longer because of shipping, logistics, or customs outside our control. When a member asks where their prize is, this is the expected timeline, not a problem, so set that expectation calmly.

* Winners must respond to a claim notification within 7 days, or the prize may be forfeited and re-drawn.
* If a prize is a specific service and we cannot provide that exact service, we may provide a different service or prize of comparable value instead.
* Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be swapped for cash or store credit unless the giveaway explicitly says so.
* Winners are responsible for any taxes, duties, or fees on a prize. Esports Hub is not.

## Members may not exploit giveaways

Giveaways are meant to be fair. Anyone gaming them is disqualified, whether or not they reported what they did.

* **Exploiting bugs or glitches.** Using a bug, glitch, or unintended behaviour in any Esports Hub system to gain entries, points, or any other advantage is grounds for disqualification, whether or not the exploit was reported. If a member finds a bug, they must report it to staff instead of using it.
* **Manufacturing activity.** Farming messages, faking engagement, coordinating artificial activity with others, or otherwise gaming an entry requirement in a way it was not meant to be met is grounds for disqualification, and can also forfeit the member's points or rewards.
* **Multiple accounts and bots.** Using alt accounts, bots, or any other method to gain an unfair advantage is grounds for disqualification.

<Warning>
  If you suspect someone is exploiting a giveaway, do not act alone. Gather what you can (message links, timestamps, account details) and raise it with an admin before any prize is handed out.
</Warning>

## Eligibility and changes

* Eligibility requirements such as minimum account age, time in the server, or role requirements may apply, and are stated in the giveaway announcement.
* Esports Hub can modify, cancel, or suspend any giveaway at any time without prior notice.

## Handling complaints

If a member complains about the wait, a disqualification, or any other giveaway outcome, stay calm and **always link them our [Terms of Service](https://esportshub.io/terms)**. By entering the giveaway they agreed to these terms, including the delivery timeline and the anti-exploit rules. Point them to the Giveaways section rather than debating the outcome.
